reeform Crochet – Mandalas

Freeform Crochet – Mandalas
Learn to crochet intuitively, letting the yarn guide you.
In this playful workshop, we will go in circles! Using both math and intuition, you will crochet a mandala. The focus is on experimenting, observing, and adjusting rather than sticking to a plan.
Working like this, you can experiment freely with yarn of different colours, textures, and weights. The finished piece can be attached to a cushion, stretched in a hoop, or used as the centre of a blanket.
What you'll learn:
The basic ratios for creating simple shapes
Some simple travelling stitches such as shells, puffs, and bullions
How to combine different yarns for texture and color contrast
Reading different yarn types and how they influence the result
Methods for mounting your finished piece on a hoop or on fabric.

Materials:
All yarns are provided and included in the course fee. You’re also welcome to bring your own leftover yarns. We'll work with a combination of handspun yarn and mixed scraps from previous projects – perfect for understanding how different fibers behave. Wooden hoops will be provided for those who want to mount their finished piece that way.
Please bring several crochet hooks in a variety of sizes, and a small pair of scissors. Extras will be available to use.
Requirements:
Basic crochet skills are required – you should be comfortable making chain, single, and double crochet stitches.
